Activity 2
Ki-O-Rahi

The game that I am talking about is called Ki-O-Rahi. The main purpose is to pass the ball through the
3 sections to score goals by hitting the bucket in the middle. You can also score goals on the side by
touching the poles. Two rules is that you have to stay in the section that you are put in. Another rule is
that you have 3 players in the third section, 2 on the second and 2 in the first section. Here is what it
looks like:

Week One- Day 3- Activity 1

Week One Day 3
Activity 1
We had to say if you would want to be in a large family.

In my family there is already 6 children. So I kinda know what it's like. It's a bit stressful for all of us and our parents. It's especially stressful for our parents because there is so many of us and trying to get us everywhere on time. I am the oldest kid in the family and there is 6 years between me and the second oldest we range from 12, 6, 4, 2, and twins who are seven weeks old. It is already stressful enough with this many kids so it wouldn’t be much fun having more. I like having a big family because you always have someone to play with and something to do. I wouldn't mind being in a bigger family.

Week One- Day 2- Bonus Activity

Bonus Activity

For this Activity we had to say what our favourite food is.

My favourite meal is pizza. I love pizza because you get to create in your own way and put
whatever you want on it. I also love getting to make pizza with my family because it is so easy to make and quick. My favourite toppings on a pizza are mushrooms, tomatoes, ham,
chicken, camembert and lots and lotsof cheese. My other favourite pizza is a normal pizza
base with spaghetti and sausages in the can from Watties. It seems like a weird combination
but trust me its really good. What is your favourite toppings?

Week One- Day 1- Activity 2

Week one- Day One
Activity 2- Setting Sail
For this activity I had to write a short letter to a friend, explaning a voyage
to New Zealand. We had to write how we felt and what it was like.

Dear Aleece,
This voyage that I have just been on is breathtaking. The wai is so beautiful with
clear bright glimmering Kikorangi wai. It is so different from we are and is quite a
bit makariri here. We have arrived on land it feels amazing just to relax for a bit
because it has been quite tiring on the waka.

On the other hand this voyage has been a bit nerve- racking at the same time.
I was so nervous to have to been on the wai for such a long period of time and
having to travel and live in a new country. It was also been very tiring and makariri
on the wai for all of this time.

This voyage has been such a wonderful experience and I wish you were her with
me to see how wonderful and beautiful it is.

Yours Sincerely

Caitlyn

Summer Learning Journey Week One- Day One- Activity One

Week One - Day One
For this Summer Learning Challenge I had to read a story called Maui and the
giant fish and collect three facts from the story. I also had to write down some
otherstories I had heard about Maui.

Activity 1 - The first settlers
I learnt that Maui's karakia helped the brothers and maui to catch more fish. The second fact is that the Maui wove a fishing line out of flax and used a jaw bone for a hook that had been given to him from his ancestor Murirangawhenua. They used the fishing line and jawbone to  pull the giant fish. Another fact that I learnt that Maui’s giant fish is known to be the north island and Maui’s canoe is known to be the south island. Some other stories that I have heard about Maui are how Maui found his mother, how Maui slowed the sun and of course Maui and the giant fish.
